Ingredients

Scale

Dough

  • 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast (one packet)
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup warm milk (about 110°F / 43°C)
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs

Filling

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tbsp ground cinnamon
  • 12 Oreo cookies, crushed into small pieces

Frosting

  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 12 tbsp milk (optional, to adjust consistency)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Dough: Activate the yeast by mixing it in warm milk with a teaspoon of sugar. Let it sit until frothy, about 5-10 minutes. In a large bowl, combine flour, both sugars, and cinnamon. Add eggs and melted butter, then the yeast mixture. Knead the dough until smooth and elastic. Cover and let it rise until doubled in size, about 1 to 1.5 hours.
  2. Prepare the Filling: Crush Oreo cookies into small pieces. In a bowl, mix softened butter, granulated sugar, and cinnamon until combined. Gently fold in the crushed Oreos to maintain texture.
  3. Assemble the Rolls: Roll the dough out on a floured surface into a large rectangle. Spread the Oreo-cinnamon filling evenly over the dough. Roll the dough tightly from one long edge into a log. Slice into equal rolls about 1 to 1.5 inches thick.
  4. Second Rise and Bake: Place the rolls in a greased baking dish, spacing slightly apart. Cover and allow to rise again until puffy, about 30-45 minutes. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake rolls for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through.
  5. Frost and Serve: Let the rolls cool slightly. Prepare the cream cheese frosting by beating cream cheese and butter until smooth, then gradually adding powdered sugar and vanilla. Add a splash of milk if needed to reach desired consistency. Spread frosting generously over warm rolls and serve.

Notes

  • Use fresh yeast for the best rise and fluffy texture.
  • Gently fold Oreos into the filling to keep chunks of cookie for texture.
  • Use a sharp knife or dental floss to slice rolls evenly and cleanly.
  • If frosting is too thick, add milk; if too thin, add more powdered sugar to adjust consistency.
  • Bake on the middle rack to ensure even heat distribution and golden crusts.
