Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 6 oz semi-sweet or bittersweet chocolate, chopped
  • 3/4 cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Optional: 1-2 tablespoons honey or sugar (to taste)
  • A pinch of salt

Optional Variations

  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon, nutmeg, or chili powder (for spiced chocolate)
  • 6 oz white chocolate (for white chocolate option)
  • 3/4 cup coconut cream and dairy-free dark chocolate (for vegan chocolate fondue)
  • 12 tablespoons Baileys, Grand Marnier, or rum (for liquor-infused fondue)
  • 12 tablespoons almond or hazelnut butter (for nutty delight)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Your Ingredients: Chop the chocolate into small, even pieces to ensure smooth melting. Measure out the heavy cream and have the vanilla extract ready to streamline the melting process.
  2. Heat the Cream: Gently warm the heavy cream in a saucepan over medium-low heat until it is hot, but not boiling. This softens the cream, allowing it to blend seamlessly with the chocolate.
  3. Melt the Chocolate: Add the chopped chocolate to the warm cream, stirring continuously until the chocolate melts completely and forms a smooth, glossy mixture. Continuous gentle stirring prevents scorching.
  4. Finish with Flavors: Stir in the vanilla extract and a pinch of salt to enhance the richness. If a sweeter or infused flavor is desired, add honey, sugar, or liqueurs at this stage and mix well.
  5. Serve Warm: Transfer the chocolate fondue to a fondue pot or heatproof bowl. Keep it warm enough to remain melted without overheating to ensure a perfect dipping experience.

Notes

  • Choose quality chocolate with at least 60% cocoa content for best flavor and smooth melting.
  • Use low heat and stir continuously to avoid burning or grainy texture.
  • If fondue is too thick, add a little more cream; if too thin, melt in additional chocolate.
  • Keep fondue warm with a tea light, electric pot, or hot water bath to maintain consistency.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days; reheat gently before serving.
